Construction Underway on GridStor's First BESS Project

Last Updated: Jun 2023

GridStor has begun construction on its first battery energy storage system (BESS), the Hidden Lakes Reliability Project in Galveston County, Texas.

The standalone facility is rated at 220 MW/440 MWh and is designed to support peak demand and grid stability in the greater Houston area.

Formerly known as the Evelyn Energy Storage project, Hidden Lakes advanced to construction following GridStor’s acquisition of the site earlier in 2024.

Project work includes site preparation and foundation installation ahead of battery enclosure deliveries in early 2025.

GridStor targets commercial operation in summer 2025, positioning the asset to contribute during ERCOT’s highest-demand hours.

The company frames the project as a near-term reliability solution while longer-lead generation and transmission buildouts proceed.

By November 2025, GridStor marked the facility’s completion and dedication, noting its capability to serve the equivalent load of roughly 140,000 Texas households during peak hours. The project represents the company’s first built asset and a strategic foothold in the ERCOT market.
