GridStor Acquires 100 MW BESS from Strata Clean Energy
Last Updated: Sep 2025
GridStor, a developer and operator of utility-scale battery energy storage systems, has acquired the White Tank battery storage project from Strata Clean Energy.
This 100 MW/400 MWh project is located in Maricopa County, Arizona. The acquisition is a key part of GridStor's strategy to expand its portfolio of energy storage projects in the western and central U.S.
The White Tank project is expected to begin commercial operation in the first half of 2027. It will operate under a 20-year tolling agreement with Arizona Public Service (APS), the state's largest electric utility.
This agreement will allow APS to charge and discharge the battery system as needed to ensure a reliable power supply for its customers.
The project is particularly important as Arizona is experiencing rapid growth in energy demand.
