Last Updated: Feb 2025

GridStor announced the acquisition of a 150 MW / 300 MWh battery energy storage project in Texas from Balanced Rock Power on February 3, 2025.

The asset is located in Hidalgo County in the Lower Rio Grande Valley, within ERCOT.

GridStor plans to bring the project online by summer 2026 to help meet rising peak demand from data centers and other large customers.

The company highlighted batteries’ role in stabilizing the grid during hours of greatest demand and relieving local transmission stress.

Construction is expected to support over 100 jobs at peak.

The deal marks GridStor’s fourth acquisition in 12 months and its second transaction with Balanced Rock Power.

It expands GridStor’s Texas footprint alongside its Hidden Lakes project near Houston. Overall, the acquisition positions GridStor to deliver additional flexible capacity in a fast-growing load pocket of the state.
