Portland General Electric (PGE) is investing in AI-powered flexibility solutions to accelerate the connection of new data centers to its transmission-constrained grid. The utility is partnering with the startup GridCARE to utilize its technology, which manages the significant power demands of data centers by optimizing existing grid capacity. This partnership allows data centers to integrate into the system much faster, avoiding delays associated with building extensive new infrastructure. By leveraging AI to enhance grid flexibility, PGE aims to overcome interconnection bottlenecks and efficiently meet the high energy demand from its rapidly growing, energy-intensive customer base.
